Integrated system for the planning, simulation and robotizing of surgery for craneofacial osteotomies

The project consists of two main parts. The first is the 3D modeling of the skull from tomographic images. This part is developed in the Robotics Institut (UPC-CSIC), for the visualization and planning of the intervention in the preoperating phase. The second part is addressed to providing the surgeon with an aiding tool, based on a robotic system. This work aims to assure that during the execution of the previously planned task, the surgeon, that operates conditioned by the above mentioned limitations, can not perform actions that can imply a risk for the patient. + info

SAUC-E: Autonomous Underwater Challenge - Europe

Held since 2006, SAUC-E challenges the next generation of engineers to design and build an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) capable of performing realistic missions. The event is designed to encourage students to think about underwater technology and related applications while fostering innovation and technology. It also aims at getting young engineers and scientists to consider careers in the field. Participating teams must consist of 75% student members and have a faculty advisor. In year 2006 and 2010 the team built ICTINEU and SPARUS, participated and obtained the first place. + info

inspectsub_vicorob INSPECSUB: Underwater Inspection

This technology takes georreferenced underwater images, in both marine and freshwater, for creating high resolution maps. That is why in 2009 ViCOROB requested a project for the evaluation of technologies provided by ACC1Ó (Catalan Government) in order to provide a more robust and usable technology to INSPECSUB system. Some of the technology applications are: safety inspection of dam walls, underwater inspections for purposes of environmental control and biological applications, underwater archeology, and inspection of underwater structures. + info
